Rebranding KLOP

Retro-playful rebranding for KLOP, from logo and visual identity to a complete brand book.

KLOP
Rebranding a Place Where Everyone Fits.
Brand Identity · Rebranding · Brand Book
KLOP is a casual hangout place built around good food, good drinks, and good conversations. Established in 2021, KLOP wanted to evolve its identity into something that could speak to a wider audience—from teenagers and students to working adults and older generations—while staying true to its approachable and affordable character.
The challenge was simple: How do you make KLOP feel more distinctive without making it feel less familiar?
THE IDEA
KLOP was never meant to be just a coffee shop. Coffee is part of the experience, but the real reason people come is the time they spend together. They come to meet, eat, drink, talk, laugh, and stay a little longer.
That became the foundation of the rebrand: Good Talk. Good Drink.
From there, the meaning of KLOP became more than just a name. It represents something that fits, something that connects, and something that feels right—a place where different people, different stories, and different moments can meet around the same table.
THE NEW IDENTITY
The new identity was built around four qualities: Retro. Playful. Simple. Modern.
The visual language takes cues from familiar retro forms, then simplifies and refines them into something more contemporary. The result is an identity that feels nostalgic without feeling dated, playful without becoming childish, and modern without losing its warmth.
THE LOGO
The new KLOP logo was designed to feel more like a character than a conventional wordmark. Its rounded letterforms create a soft and approachable presence, while the illustrated mouth beneath the wordmark gives KLOP its own personality.
It can feel like KLOP is talking, laughing, listening, and telling stories. The mouth is not simply an ornament; it represents one of the most important parts of the KLOP experience: conversation.
Because if KLOP is a place built around connection, then KLOP should have a voice of its own.
VISUAL LANGUAGE
The identity extends beyond the logo through a visual system built around rounded forms, playful shapes, connected elements, and expressive graphic details.
These elements create a flexible visual language that can move across different touchpoints while maintaining a consistent character. From cups and packaging to menus, signage, social media, and merchandise, each application carries the same idea: People meet. Stories connect. Moments happen.
COLOR
KLOP's palette combines warmth with a little nostalgia. Brown creates a grounded and familiar foundation, while cream keeps the identity warm and welcoming. Orange introduces energy and playfulness, and mustard adds a nostalgic touch without pushing the identity too far into the past.
Together, the palette creates a visual atmosphere that feels warm, familiar, playful, and memorable.
TYPOGRAPHY
Typography was selected to balance KLOP's playful personality with everyday usability. Cherry Bomb One brings character, expression, and a distinctive retro attitude to headlines and key moments. Space Grotesk provides clarity and structure across supporting communication, menus, information, and everyday brand applications.
Together, they create a simple relationship: One makes people look. The other helps them stay and read.
BRAND BOOK
The rebrand was developed beyond the logo into a complete brand system. The resulting KLOP Brand Book brings the identity together across brand story, brand philosophy, logo system, color palette, typography, graphic language, photography direction, tone of voice, brand applications, and brand governance.
The goal was not simply to document how KLOP should look. It was to create a guide for how KLOP should continue to feel wherever the brand appears.
THE RESULT
KLOP now has a visual identity that is more distinctive, more expressive, and more prepared to grow with its audience. It is still approachable, still familiar, and still rooted in the idea of a place for everyone—just with a clearer voice and a stronger visual character.
Because a rebrand should not make a place feel like somewhere else. It should make what was already there easier to recognize.
